Tam McArthur Rim

Three Creeks Lake

Three Creeks Lake is a local favorite for many Sisters’ residents. There is an abundance of fun and adventure to be had...canoeing, fishing, hiking and horseback riding. Bug spray is highly recommended as the mosquitos can be quite relentless during the summer months. I would suggest putting it on before you reach the lake. Also, a forest pass is required and can be purchased from our front desk for $5 for the day.

There is a gate about 1.5 miles from the lake and it is generally opened around early June. To reach the lake from FivePine, head left on Hwy 20 towards the town of Sisters. From there, take a left on Elm Street and take this all the way up to the lake. The road is paved until the last 2 miles where it transitions to a gravel road. On your way out of town, stop at Melvin’s for some snacks and great sandwiches or wraps.

You will find the Tam McArthur Rim trailhead on the left side of the road opposite of the Driftwood camp entrance. The trail is about 5 miles round trip and is on the moderate to difficult side. In early summer, you may not be able to reach the top of the rim depending on the snow level. There are many downed trees the first ½ mile of the trail and there is a steady incline to the top. The trail is about 5 miles there and back. After the hike, be sure to stop by the little store at the lake. You can rent canoes and row boats there.
